DMSO Experiences Case Study
One Substack author who routinely writes error-filled hit pieces on popular natural therapies wrote a widely seen one on DMSO. As it was designed to elicit negative responses about DMSO and was only promoted by those who are strongly opposed to its use but simultaneously was nonsensical and inflammatory enough to offend those who benefitted from it, I felt it would be an excellent natural experiment to see how closely the responses lined up to what is widely reported in the DMSO field (80-85% of recipients benefitting from generic protocols [rather than focused ones], the primary adverse events being temporary skin irritation and a bad breath, and severe adverse reactions being extraordinarily rare).
As of 10/13/2025, there were all the comments the article elicited discussing their own experiences with DMSO (all of which the author, like any MD, dismissed as being anecdotal and not counting).
Of the 99 responses received which appeared to discuss direct experiences with DMSO:
•64 were positive reports, 81% of which an AI system characterized as “profound” improvements.
•17 suggested a positive direct experience, but did not explicitly state so in the comment.
•2 were impossible to determine if a benefit, harm or no effect occurred.
•6 stated no benefit occurred. However, most of these were for conditions where DMSO is known not to work (and hence not advised).
•2 implied no benefit occurred, but it was unclear.
•12 individuals reported tolerable and temporary reactions which are known side effects of DMSO, 7 of whom were also included in one of the previous tallies (e.g., someone who benefitted from it noticed there was a tolerable rash).
•3 individuals reported more severe reactions. Two of these were tolerable and temporary, while the third (a large blister forming) was most likely due to the agent combined with DMSO (oregano oil) rather than DMSO itself.
For context, that equates to a 91% success rate (and arguably close to 100% if you remove the instances where DMSO is not recommended or thought to work).
Likewise, 14% reported adverse responses, most of which were minor and had no consequence besides the individual not wanting to continue the therapy. A more detailed breakdown is as follows:
Positive Responses to DMSO
There were 64 total positive reports on DMSO here, 81% of which were what an AI system categorized as “profound” (e.g., complete cures of chronic or severe conditions, avoidance of surgeries or major medical interventions, long-term resolution of debilitating pain where other treatments failed, or self-described “miraculous” healings).
However, I have many miraculous healings to go by. Burns, cuts, chronic back, shoulder and neck pain, knees where and op was avoided. This is just among my family and friends….Plenty of good science was done in the 60s and 70s on DMSO, before it became a threat to the pharmaceutical bottom line….But, with the effectiveness of DMSO in my personal experience, I’d be hard pushed to ever be without it again. When you see with your own eyes a 2nd degree burn healing miraculously overnight, that alone is proof enough. I don’t need anyone to tell me I need to have it in my first aid kit. I hand out DMSO like candy to all and sundry who complain of chronic pain, and it gives me great joy when time and again they come back with positive reports and requests for links to where they can order their own supply. My most recent convert is a new friend, an 82-year old lady who refuses to have a hip operation, but used ibuprofen daily - she even woke up at night to take it. She hasn’t had ONE since starting DMSO.
Except it does help my angkle, use with a grain of salt.
FWIW my personal experience DMSO is that it works.
It helped cure the psoriasis on the bottom of my feet. It was so severe I could barely walk. So something that by this articles thesis, destroys my skin barrier actually restored it (my feet had bleeding cracks). It also incredible at relieving back pain (from experience) that’s actually what made DMSO popular to begin with and why some chiropractors I know recommend such verboten remedies.
It definitely amplifies other therapies with its transport properties. It was a journal article I stumbled upon that was using DMSO to enhance the effects of a therapy, so I tried it out on its own to help with my psoriasis. It worked.
I’m a retired, formerly busy DC with 27 years experience having well over 250,000 patient visits during which time several of my joints (bilateral shoulders, left thumb) have developed advanced degenerative changes (OA) directly due to my work from repetitive micro trauma. I was forced to retire early, awarded a full disability from two insurance companies due to these bilateral shoulder issues for which I do daily rehab that helps allow me to do activities of daily living (ADL’s). More problematic the last 5 years is an increasingly painful left carpometacarpal, (CMC) joint which has the hard, bony permanent swelling consistent with advanced OA bony calcification with surrounding soft tissue inflammation and swelling. I’ve used ice and I’ve done various thumb exercises but the pain had become slowly worse with constantly mild pain with moderate exacerbations over the last 5 years. So in the management of this I’ve refused any oral anti-inflammatory meds due to risk/benefit ratios I deemed unacceptable. Following AMD’s well-written piece on DMSO, his/her citing 9,000 plus literature citations on safety, previous well-referenced articles my training and experience agreed with, and reading many patient’s successful stories I ordered some with 99.995 purity. I use it just prior to bedtime with appropriate cleaning. I’ve improved nearly 100% with pain, the soft swelling nearly 100% reduced. Several times I’ve gotten small, itchy blisters just below the thumb that I avoid applying DMSO to which resolved. No other problems. Every medical product needs a risk/benefit analysis, nothing is 100%. I certify this to be 100% true.
I’ve been using several DMSO protocols and The results have been consistent and well, miraculous. And yes, I did a lot of research before I began using it. Any serious user of DMSO learns how to purify its effects by withholding any type of chemicals (lotions, perfumes, etc) on the skin and hair prior to use. Also, I wear linen clothing during any usage so that no unwanted chemicals in the clothing are transferred through the skin. Additionally, if medications or supplements must be taken an hour or so before or after its use.
DMSO is being studied in many other countries in combination with other medications/nutraceuticals to amplify the effects of these combined substances. There are promising results in trials being conducted. By the way, you didn’t mention at all how the FDA and big Pharma have demonized DMSO because when people begin using it (and this is also true for chlorine dioxide), they will often cease using big Pharma products because they won’t need them. So there is HUGE money at stake here. Money that can influence people in the wrong ways.
For anyone truly interested in learning more about DMSO, I wouldn’t start with Amanda‘s book, but rather go to the person who discovered it. And while you’re at it also look into chlorine dioxide, another truly amazing substance.
There and hundreds of thousands of people in the world that are being helped by the proper usage of DMSO. Perhaps you could do your readers a favor and interview some of those people to give a more balanced account of this unique solvent. Maybe just maybe, there’s something you don’t understand about its chemistry especially in light of the fact that many respected medical authorities present evidence which quite contrary to yours.
Have you done any articles on the evils and toxicity of seed oils, how they are made, and how they destroy the immune system? Now there’s something to really educate people about!

With all due respect to your opinion, it is YOUR opinion. I test things in the field and I can tell you that with 50/70% DMSO I have cured: a fungus on the third toe of my right foot, folliculitis behind my neck, I removed a pedicle near my left eye and 50% DMSO smoothed the remaining area perfectly. The choice is up to readers: test it on your own body and take a chance, or turn to Big Pharma and associates.
As for the fungus, I can attest that it is not just the symptom that has disappeared, but the cause has also been eliminated with DMSO, where even bicarbonate, which is usually effective, was powerless.
Not sure who’s telling the truth or not, but consistent use of topical DMSO on my shoulder for torn rotator cuff has given me much comfort and may be completely healed after years of pain. Now lifting weights and doing whatever I want with that shoulder. Placebo? Maybe.. but it worked when nothing else did.
[is it a placebo?] Well.. I haven’t had to use it in 6 months and no pain.. does morphine do that?
In Russia it is a well-known remedy for sports injuries and arthritis pain.
The only thing by we can rely on now though is anectodal evidence, which speaks in favor of the product.
I personally use DMSO as a pain and symptoms relieving remedy for an incurable condition of unknown etiology, i.e. AS, and from a personal experience it’s less hard on the body than biologics or NSAIDs
I have experienced rashes. The solution isn’t to discard the substance but to moderate its use. It has healed me of two specific chronic issues. It one becomes obese by overeating natural foods, then intake is moderated. We don’t stop eating food.
I’m 70. I have severe cervical spine issues, budging discs and wedging from C1-C7. No known cause, other than bad heredity I guess.
The result of this unfortunate situation is debilitating pain, which manifests at T6T7, which is the only ‘bad’ spot in my thoracic and is a result of a yard sale crash during a ski race 25 years ago (yeah a 45 year old should not have been running the World Cup downhill course at Aspen but it was parents day during Junior Olympics and well, whatever lol).
Anyway, I’ve been suffering for a decade and have been forced to mostly abandon any type of activity which requires placing my hands in front of my body with my arms outstretched. Cooking. Writing. Golf. Skiing. Computer work. And more. Mostly everything I like to do.
I have tried: physical therapy; steroid injections, cupping; massage; opiods; heat; ice, etc. Anything that helps is only temporary.
I have met with two surgeons who say that they could attempt to perform some ablative work to reduce the pressure from the discs, but neither gives more than a 50/50 chance of success, with the possibility of making it worse.
So given all that, I ultimately resigned myself to a steroid injection every three months and an Rx for opiods to handle the excruciating periods.
And then I ‘discovered’ DMSO. It’s a roll on dispenser. 99.9% ‘pure’ so they claim. Made in the U.S. 15 bucks for a 3 oz bottle.
I don’t use it prophylacticly, it doesn’t work that way anyway. But, I can now undertake tasks that previously I avoided, knowing that if the pain escalates instead of taking 10MG of Norco and getting out the ice pack, a couple of passes over the area with the roll on and the relief exceeds the drugs and lasts longer.
I use it sparingly, maybe twice per week. No skin irritation. No other issues. At one point I was taking up to 90 5/325 Norco per month. I’ve cut that back to less than 30 and am working my way down to zero.
So at this point do I know if using a small amount of DMSO a few times per month is doing other bad stuff to my body. No I don’t. But given the circumstances and my age, it’s a risk I’m willing to take.
I’m not advocating for its use. But I am saying it has brought significant pain relief in an as needed basis, and allowed me to resume many activities that I had thought would never be able to do again.
But it works SO well. My dog had a huge chunk out of its leg after being run over and a combo spray of MMS and DMSO literally rebuilt the flesh before my eyes he healed so fast.
I have used it myself and the healing (especially burns as I weld as part of my profession) is almost magical. My cats have all had various skin ailments and DMSO has cured them all without exception.
Dmso RESOLVED arthritis in my mother. Afyer a month of use, together with arnica, turmeric and ginger oil, she STOPPED using everything since she was cured. It’s an anecdote? Clinical trials are a large sum of anecdotes. Plus, having curec her, myself and my family from a large quantity of ailments is all I need.
DMSO is amazing. Put it on a bad burn, pain disappeared and wound healed quickly. Also works great when my neck is jacked up.
I use DMSO daily. Works great for me.
dmso has been a great tool in our family for skin issues and pain so we are fans of it. it also helps our fur babies
I once met a woman with osteoarthritis who regained a remarkable amount of usable flexibility and pain relief in her fingers by soaking them in dish of DMSO solution. She showed me what she could do with her grip and her fingers- even with visible nodes still on them! If someone uses it that way in a clean, washed rectangle pyrex dish or measuring cup, the solution can be decanted for reuse. If you don’t mind having some dead skin cells in there, that is, and why should you?
I have it but only used it a couple times when I hurt my back. It helped but was afraid still because whatever is on your skin or hands will go into your body.
When I use DMSo for bronchitis—just a dab on my chest area, it’s gone in a day. My brother has Dupreyens—a calcification in hands and feet and it keeps it at bay. Someone near us has lung issues and he uses DMSO daily and it has improved his condition. I trust people’s stories far more than I trust any big pharma study, and any attacks on the Internet.
I am also a DMSO user. Over a 7 month period I used it brush my teeth. I had two cavities that Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO have cured. I think it is an amazing product. I had all my (2) mercury fillings removed prior to using this protocol otherwise I would not have used this combination to cure my cavities. You have to use this wisely. God bless you.
I used DMSO and am functional after I wasn’t functional. It is a great product!
[when asked if there were any negative effects] Zero!
Personal experience : using DMSO topically to treat neuropathy in my feet is working to eliminate debilitating pain. None of the negative side effects mentioned by the author. I’ll continue to use and recommend DMSO to family and friends.
I hope people can recognize this article is just a bunch of unsourced allegations. I was convinced to try DMSO because of the breadth and depth of the research you presented and DMSO eliminated the joint and arthritis pain that would keep me from falling asleep almost every night.
I have had great success using DMSO. First on my dogs mast cell tumor, and secondly on my pinched nerve in my neck.
Yes, I agree that if one is looking for a magic bullet they won’t find it like this. I reversed my muscle weakness with internal dmso, but I am also taking advantage of the opportunity to start getting regular exercise again.
I have had sore feet for 30 years due to high arches and the DMSO topically relieved the pain greatly. I have had ED I assume from statin use for over 20 years and I thought why not. I have had great improvement. Yes wash the skin first.
I’ve had great results too. Knee pain under control ans nearly gone from only a few rare applications of the cream (yes, must wash carefully first!), muscle weakness was gone within 2 weeks of .25 mL internal dosage, I can finally exercise again.
I use DMSO regularly and it works great. I had the beginnings of a skin boil starting and rubbed just a few drops on it. Next day, no more pain and it was gone soon after. Sore finger joints? Rub it on and no more pain. Back pain? Rub some on get quick relief.
I appreciate your counterview. I am a happy user of DMSO as it resolved my 8 year old trick knee
Hmm I’ve only had very positive experiences with DMSO and use it mostly as an emergency medicine. I live in the jungle and have seen it heal numerous cases of staph (infection) very quickly without the use of antibiotics + many other types of wound healing including bad burns. Yes, it’s important to be very careful with it as it’s a solvent and I always dilute it but, I have never experienced any negative effects personally or known anyone else to have experienced any negative effects.
I had a dental abscess. Extremely painful. The dentist wanted to take off the tooth. I put some dmso, some water, ginger and clove oil for a couple of nights and it was healed. You see, stuff can be not “pure”, but some benefits go well beyond its shorfalls. The same for arthritic pain of my old mother. In the hospital they were ready to euthanize her, as they do with 92 year olds. Some dmso with arnica and turmeric took all the pain away. She was screaming in pain. So I guess there are benefits. You should advocate a different thing, like “make very clean dmso”, you cannot say it is dangerous per se. It is a miracolous drug, that you like it or not. I had a mrsa infection in my foot, dmso and garlic oil cured what NOTHING was able to cure. So I still have my foot. I guess it has some uses.
I have DMSO injected into my IV saline with vitamins and it has saved my life. I rub it on my head when I have a bad headache and it’s miraculous how the pain just slips away. I put it into my water and feel clear minded and suddenly more awake after a few sips.
I bought DMSO powder at least 20 years ago and drank it in water. Couldn’t get it after first 1K purchase and forgot about it. It seems it has recently been discovered again in cream or liquid form. Nobody I know has ever heard of it do so don’t know about it being in peoples medicine cabinets. Put it on a burn and cleared it up in a couple of days!
I have so many stories on why dmso is wonderful.
Myself on a joint (doctor said it was age related and nothing could be done), my mother of 80 for her joints pains, a friend on her hand that didn’t heal after surgery, a broken foot that was too painful, my dog after surgeries (wounds kept getting necrosis at the clinic) . And another acquaintance of mine that wasn’t able to go back to work for 2 years because of painful legs (2 surgeries and doctors couldn’t help…), after putting dmso at 30% percent his life changed.
The concentration is the key…
As said, cleaning before anything is very important. Use h2o2 at 3% food grade or colloidal silver.
The Midwester doctor made a great article on dmso, yours , not so much….
Honestly, dmso have helped so far in my life, 12 humans, 2 dogs and a horse.
I haven’t read so far any testimonials besides yours, that shows dmso negatively.
I have been using dmso for 4 years now and so far, all good and it has been a game changer
I ha e bee. Using DMSO for well over er 10 years and could not disagree with you more for trying to demonize one of the most versatile substan es I have ever used. I first be came aware of DMSO in the early 1980’s from a friend in South Florida who hung out at the racetrack He learned about it from jockeys.I was interested but couldn’t find anything out about it until the internet became available.
Using DMSO straight is risky, mostly it is diluted with 30% water. I use it mostly externally but also consume it occasionally. It cleared up a bad case of shingles in a few days last year but has been helpful for dozens of other problems.
DMSO saved my life. I have a rare, incurable neurological disorder that takes my quality of life to near zero. Pharma has no effective counter for it. DMSO suppresses the symptoms so that I can live from day to day. I can hold down a job, see my children grow up, and actually live without chronic and debilitating pain.
If DMSO were taken from me tomorrow I would be severely disabled and back to contemplating how long I can tolerate life before killing myself. So I don’t really give a damn what anyone thinks about DMSO or my use of it.
And it was through MWD that I learned about DMSO and how to use it by itself or in combination with other substances. So from my point of view MWD could be the devil himself and I would not care.
Now every morning I get to reflect on how DMSO has made that day possible and I thank God for it.
DMSO, when used sparingly, and in accordance with physician instructions, is *very* effective in accelerating troublesome post-op wound healing of incisions made in reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery. Anti-ischemic/debridement are two mechanisms. Not medical advice. Always consult a board-certified MD.
This is post-surgical application of non-industrial, medical grade DMSO, applied sparingly, over a defective incision site, a few times over several weeks and that’s it
I’ve been an RN since ‘75 and have been using DMSO for nearly as long. This writer is either being deceptive or doesn’t research very deeply. While it is true that DMSO was sidelined from a fast track to FDA approval due to a study showing changes in the lenses of rabbit eyes from DMSO use, she fails to reveal that the study consisted of bathing their eyes with 100% DMSO 3x daily for 6 weeks. Who would ever do that in the real world?
Yes, it can irritate skin if used full-strength. Solution: Dilute with distilled water, rotate application sites.
Yes, it does transport other substances through the skin and into the bloodstream. This can be both a feature and a bug. Use some common sense, wash and rinse the application area well prior to use, do not apply substances you might not want in your blood (such as menthol) either prior to or within an hour after DMSO application.
Many pharmaceutical transdermal patches use DMSO and related compounds to enable drug transport through skin-not that I am advocating for pharmaceuticals!
I’ve used it to treat a dog bite with swelling so severe I couldn’t get my bare foot into a Sorel winter boot. 30 minutes later my foot skin was as wrinkled as if I’d been swimming for 4 hours and was nearly normal in size.
Had an abcessed tooth start oozing pus at midnight on a Saturday, applied the DMSO to the surrounding gum and to my cheek every half hour x 4, the swelling disappeared, the drainage stopped and I kept the tooth another 7 years.
Partially tore an Achilles tendon playing softball, bothered me for at least 8 weeks and wasn’t improving. Decided to try DMSO on it, used it I think 2x\day for 3 days then realized the tendon wasn’t hurting any longer. Has never bothered since and it has been close to 40 years ago (I’m 74 now). I believe this was my first use of DMSO.
Have used it on countless sprained thumbs from skiing falls, sprained ankles, sore shoulders and knees from racquetball, etc. Once used it on our dog when he came home late on a weekend night with his snout and front leg severely clawed from a fight. The leg was swollen and hot, obviously infected. Bathed his leg then applied full-strength hydrogen peroxide and followed it with 99% DMSO. Repeated it about an hour later. The next day his leg was down to normal size and temp, he healed up completely with no issues.
It doesn’t work for everyone-my experience is that about 80% of people I’ve suggested it to have had significant relief. My mother used it regularly for over 30 years on a painful hip replacement as well as arthritic knees and hands, died at 97.
My experience is mine alone, YMMV. This information is worth precisely what you paid for it. Do your own research, look at both sides on every issue. Someone else in comments mentioned “A Midwestern Doctor”. Lots of good information there with documentation.
I used it twice (diluted at 15%) on my eye directly and it cured shingles without the need of antibiotics...
The first DMSO I purchased five years ago was from Russia which seems to work as stated. Now, so many companies seem to sell it. I purchased some from a large New Jersey company a few month ago but am now hesitant to use it.
DMSO helped heal my nagging quadricep tendinitis so fast I almost cried in thanksgiving. My knees haven’t felt this good in decades. I don’t know how I could deny its healing powers.
An annoying cherry angioma is almost gone because of DMSO.
It’s not helping the arthritis in my wrist much at all - yet.
I don’t know how I could deny the benefits of DMSO.
I tried it for a few days before going to bed, as a topical, and it helped with joint pain. I stopped using it because it caused a rash.
I’ve been using DMSO since 1980 when I saw it on 60 Minutes. None of the side effects whatsoever. I now use it everyday on something as I’m getting older and things hurt. I have not one instance that I can think of where I had a negative experience with DMSO.
I bought some dmso from dmsostore.com (99.995% pure pharmaceutical grade), did a diluted patch test without problems and began using it. It’s been very helpful for arthritic knees, thumbs and ankles. I used some on a sunburn and it was amazingly effective at controlling pain, preventing blistering and promoting fast healing. I used some (about 60%) on my eyes when I was developing an eye infection that I’ve had repeated episodes with in the last few years and it cleared up in under three days.
I am a retired pharmacist. I have forgotten more about drugs than any nurse will ever know. I have been familiar with DMSO since the 80’s. It is a safe and effective drug with multiple uses
DMSO was magic in taking away pain from my torn meniscus. It also relieved the pain and swelling a friend had from varicose veins
I have used it for almost two years for osteoarthritis. It has helped me to become pain free in my knees and back. It also reduced a very large scar I got from hernia surgery. I think there are multiple ways to use it and also to miss use it.
A friend used DMSO on a burn on his hand. It healed his burn in 3 days. He then put it on a scar on his face that he got 6 months prior. The scar is now gone and it only took about a week. My other friend used it on her knee and now has more range of motion in it and moves it easier. My orthopedic surgeon friend used it on his wrist and it cut his pain by 50%. My husband hurt his back and couldn’t bend down to the ground and had to have my son help him stand up and sit down saying he’s never experienced pain like that. I used DMSO on him for 2 days. He was 90% better in 48 hours. My husband also dropped a car battery on his foot a couple of months later ( not knowing he broke his 4th metatarsal). He used DMSO on it every day for a week and barely had any pain.
I used it for a ripped tendon in my wrist and it helped a ton. I use it sparingly. As far as body’s healing themselves, yes they should be able to but the world is highly toxic and some people are targeted individuals looking for some relief. My mom per my suggestion used it on her shoulder which has had pain for years and she can finally move it better than she has in a very long time. In a perfect world we’d heal ourselves but our world is too polluted and degraded so we need help. I use biontology to fix issues that no doctors can solve and my practitioner recommends dmso… everything in moderation
It’s the only thing that works on my hemorrhoids. Works instantly.
I’ve been using DMSO on an injured knee and have experienced not a single side effect you cited.
DMSO for a couple of years and it has instantly worked to reduce muscle cramps and carry castor oil and curcumin into my hip joints where I feel instant relief.
Earlier this summer, I had a baseball buddy who was hit on the knee with a line drive. The knock created a tennis ball size lump on his knee, it was painful and he could not bend it. I applied 110% dmso on his knee. In less than 20 minutes swelling significantly decreased, within an hour he could bend his knee 90 degrees and walk normally, We cleaned the knee with Castel soap, let it dry and applied DMSO
I love DMSO. I have amazing stories of success that no pharmaceutical or allopathic medically trained doctor could achieve
I don’t agree with any of this. I’ve been using it for 3 years now pretty much every day and can only speak great things about it. I don’t believe anybody but test things myself and can’t recommend it enough. It brought not only innumerable healing to me but also to my friends and family
DMSO has cleared my son’s eczema on his elbows with one time use and my husband’s eczema on back of his neck. Anyone who has eczema knows it’s a stubborn skin condition in which the doctors have no answers for a cure. I have also used it on my hand for arthritis. The pain and swelling is gone. DMSO works!
This article comes off trying to get you to believe that it’s the only source of Truth on a product that I’ve used for 20 plus years. Read semicolon the DMSO handbook for doctors. Testing stopped in the US because like all other natural products there’s no money in it for big pharma. But that’s not to say testing didn’t stop in other parts of the world. Read the book it’s a short one and get truly informed with what been going on with DMSO over the years.
I have found that it aids healing of wounds dramatically
I have used it sparingly for 25 or 30 years with great success and no negatives other than some garlicky odor that dissipates with further use.
I’m certainly happy that DMSO is around; I am 71 yrs old and I remember my father, a pharmacist, using DMSO when I was a young boy. Now that I’m older I’m thankful for the relief DMSO gives my achy joints, tinnitus, and sinus issues from SCUBA diving. Maybe I should use Tylenol instead? I never hear anything from the AMA on that subject!
Potentially Positive Responses
These 17 responses implied a benefit from DMSO, but did not explicitly state it.
If it blocks nerve signals for pain, well beats using any addictive opioid.
A number of highly respected and honest doctors in America have presented an overview of DMSO that completely contradicts your every crazed word! It is both surprising and disappointing that Substack allows garbage like you to take up space on their website!! Try your sick, twisted dialogue elsewhere!!
I do use DMSO 99.9 pharmaceutical grade. Never had a problem.
I had cancer. I’m trying to keep it at bay. I was told DMSO can help treat cancer. You can just buy it on Amazon. There are FB groups full of people that swear by it.
Do you know they put transplant organs in a bath of DMSO for transporting between hospitals?
The low freezing point 18 Celsius protect tissue from decomposition without causing widespread tissue destruction of freezing in water…
It is also used in brain surgery to help recover from brain injury and heart injury due to stroke clots or perfusion injuries… it is not all bad even water taken in excess can kill you.. dmso has its uses.
It is a weak oxidiser and can donate an electron or take one back, chlorine dioxide is the master oxidiser here it can donate one electron or take 4 back that’s how you heal a cell that’s missing one electron or has an excess (cancer) are you a shill for B1G Harmer?
DMSO is a valuable asset when used correctly and when obtained from responsible sources. It has a decades long, attested to and documented history with numerous applications, strengths, and forms
It’s pretty stupid attacking DMSO so late
After millions of people seen it work first hand and continue to use it
You just ruined your career 🤡exposing🤡 as an industrial solvent and a bipeoduct of paper industry
Lolol
Well duh
None of that makes it less effective
So what’s your damn point
Stop using something that works amazingly well ?
Very long comment talking about how straightforward it is to use DMSO safely, that implied but did not explicitly state a benefit from DMSO.
Time will tell. I am currently using it for a degenerative disk problem. All the DMSO precautions are well covered in multiple books
Reread this article carefully. Cherry pick information and use a lot of unsupported claims, then careful wording makes one question is this a good possibility for me, or not. I listened to the head of FDA at the time in an interview. He verified the almost totally absent negative reactions and either no or 1 death, explained why the death. Verified the astounding effectiveness for a huge list of medical problems from both published information and medical doctors and professionals petitioning for approval and said it will never be FDA approved. I read published data on the use, effectiveness, outcomes and listened to personal experiences - patient and medical personnel. I am now checking out an amazing neurologist/chiropractor in Florida with unusual gifts serving humanity out of both love and dedication to healing. His love of education and ability to focus on human needs vs the dictated ways of American medicine along with the healing results in his clinic are ALL positive indicators that the methods and modes he uses are safe, effective and not the addictive, damaging and deadly answers we get from almost every other ‘profession.’ This man and his clinic use DMSO and I have listened to and read patient responses. That says it all to me. I was a military trained medic and nurse before vaccines almost killed me. Honest, dedicated to true health and healing medical professionals are a rare star in a vast night sky of millions.
I know several 80+ year olds that regularly not only use DMSO topically but also internally that could easily pass for 60 year olds.
I’m in Facebook and Telegram groups where people share success stories of improvement from using DMSO.
[this response was deleted by the author, but given her response of anecdotes aren’t proof of safety] indicates it was a positive response.
I pretty much agree with nothing you write except for doing our own research. Research proves that DMSO is an amazing healing tool for anyone, not based on MWD but actual users experiencing actual healing. You seem so bitter and obsessed with your own importance it’s very sad.
When I was young, the urologist would do cystoscopies in his office with dmso. I had it done from age 5 to 9. Then it stopped, no more dmso. I would get cystos with different medicines. My bladder is doing fine. I have had intersistitial cystitis all of my life. I just had a cystoscopy and my bladder is 👍🏻
Good points, not relevant to DMSO though. It’s not a newly discovered remedy and not at all a fringe one either coming from a place of little education. It was widely used by medical doctors and in hospitals untill it got banned by the FDA in the 60s. Hundreds of doctors rallied behind it but lost to a pharma lobby, of course. This basically harmless, quite cheap and effective remedy would render countless harmful, ineffective and expensive pharmaceuticals useless and drive them off the market. Pharma stands to lose trillions in revenue if DMSO was legitimized again. Look up DMSO on Midwestern Doctor substack. It’s quite astonishing.
Impossible to determine
In these two responses, it was impossible to determine if there was benefit or harm
Just last week, I gave an extra bottle of DMSO that I had to a handyman at my house. He said he had been in pain for twenty years. I also gave him Amandha’s website - YummyDoctor.com - so he could order from her directly. I haven’t heard back from him as to whether DMSO is helping him or not.
I did buy some DMSO, even tho I remember thinking this is left over waste. But the whole tree thing made me doubt my gut. I did try it and I spilled a drop of it on my night stand and it ate the paint off down to the wood in seconds! That shocked and scared me. I have not used it since.
No Benefit
In six responses, no benefit occurred. Of these, one was for a challenging condition (which often requires intense DMSO applications), one was from a source I consider to be inherently biased (which gave no specific details), two were for conditions DMSO is known not to work on, one was for an unspecified rash (where results are highly dependent on the type of rash), and one was for an application of DMSO which patients frequently complain about and I think has a poorer risk/benefit ratio than most of other ones.
Tried DMSO and castor oil for cancer pain. Did nothing. Then saw your previous article.
I also tried DMSO. It did absolutely nothing for me and I also tried it for my cat. It did absolutely nothing for her either.
I saw the 60 mins piece on DMSO. Ran out and bought some. It smells really awful. Tried it on a skin condition I have on both shins( pigmented Perpura) it means blood under the skin. It looks like I am rusting! DMSO makes my skin unbelievably itchy. It did nothing
I remember trying it on bone spurs on 2 fingers after hearing a health guru praising the merits of DMSO. 1 drop on each finger. And then the taste. Lingering for days. With blood sugar drop like when a was a young adult having a hard time regulating my blood sugar. Only after one application! Bone spurs disappeared by cutting down on foods high in oxalic acid.
Did not work for me. Made a small rash on able MUCH WORSE after treating it with 99.5% DMSO diluted as prescribed. Warning!
I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis around 2001 when I was almost 20 years old. Other than a potentially unnecessary procedure involving a ureterscope I was subjected to quite a few LARGE doses of a fluid pumped into my bladder which I then had to leave for about an hour. I am now convinced that this ridiculously caustic fluid was DMSO and my bodies reactions were anything but normal. I’ll spare the details but I’m positive there was nothing good about those days of treatment and I was no better for it until my diet changed.
Note: in most cases, better results are gotten from topic and oral DMSO than intravesical DMSO (which is often irritating and only works in certain patients but not others). Unfortunately, since this is the only profitable way to administer DMSO, it is routinely performed within the medical field (rather than the cheaper options).
Possible No Benefit
In two responses, it was implied DMSO did not work for them, but it was not clear if that was the case.
I’m not convinced by your linking DMSO (which I don’t think is medically useful) to ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine.
Thank you for this exposé. Regarding the methylene blue that so many speak about, I have remained skeptical. I’ve used some DMSO in the past, never will again. This is an excellent reminder to look long and hard at what’s being presented as beneficial. I’ve used self-made colloidal silver in the past and have recently learned that it’s just one of the very damaging substances to our iron-recycling and mitochondrial processes.
Minor Expected Side Effects
Twelve readers reported side effects from DMSO usage which were inline with what is commonly reported and routinely warned about to DMSO users. These included irritation from intravesical applications, 2 tolerable rashes, 3 odor, 1 taste, temporary burning at the site of application, itching, significantly worsening of an existing rash, potentiating alcohol, lowering of blood sugar (which is arguably a benefit). -7

I tried it for a few days before going to bed, as a topical, and it helped with joint pain. I stopped using it because it caused a rash.
I have experienced rashes. The solution isn’t to discard the substance but to moderate its use. It has healed me of two specific chronic issues. It one becomes obese by overeating natural foods, then intake is moderated. We don’t stop eating food. It healed my skin cancer and my boys foot from a skate board injury.
This confirms my suspision as my breath stunk quickly, when put on my toenails they are quickly coroding. [the last part does not make sense to me, so I assume it was a reference to some type of polish on the nail]
My wife suffered a few fractured vertebrae at the beginning of the year. She was in immense pain. Her PCP prescribed several pain killers and even though they somewhat helped with the pain, they have ruined her micobiome I believe.
After she quit those pain meds, I went and got a small bottle of DMSO to try. We applied it to her back in a very small area and after a while she felt burning. She didn’t want to use it anymore. So we didn’t.
As a RN myself I can attest to the horrible smell from DMSO instilled into the bladder for interstitial cystitis.

I drank DMSO an hour after drinking a small glass of alcoholic digestif, and I had a headache all evening and all night. The DMSO amplified the effects of the alcohol.
I have used it sparingly for 25 or 30 years with great success and no negatives other than some garlicky odor that dissipates with further use.

Moderate Side Effects
Three more significant side effects were also reported. One, hives, is reported to affect around 1 in 2,000 users and something individuals are warned to test for before starting extensive DMSO use (to avoid anaphalaxis). Another, (temporary) dizziness and nausea is a known (but fairly rare) side effect from DMSO. The most serious one, a large blister forming, resulted from a DMSO oregano oil combination and was most likely due to oregano oil.
Thank You. I tried a small amount after reading Midwestern Doctor. Dizziness and nausea. Went right in the garbage.
Thank you for a researched article on DMSO. My recent experience led me to truly realize how a transdermal modality may not be in my best interest. I had been been bitten by mosquitos, then my bike pedal abraided, then wasp bites in a few short weeks. Being sensitive not textbook allergic the bites were constantly itching with no relief in sight. I decided to mix 1 drop of oregano oil with a finger nail size of dmso gel and applied it to the area (bottom of leg nr ankle) with the most concentrated bites. I felt nothing initially. Six hours later I had a ginormous blister filled with clear liquid on the opposite side of my leg with 1.5 ankle swelling. Yikes. That blister broke while sleeping, then filled with pus. I then have another blister at wasp sting site filled with clear fluid. I’m concerned now and go to urgent care who gives me a skin antibiotic for cellulitis. Day 1 of 7, my skin still itches, the swelling is reducing, blisters still there. Cautionary tale is to be careful of what we want to soak into our body—I’m thinking the wasp-mosquito venom went deeper in an already traumatized area.
The first time i put DMSO on my skin i put it on my neck and i immediately got hives above my liver a big patch of hives they it’s so bad and i kept that rash for two days that was my liver saying this is not good and i actually use it two more times after that did not realize but i do have pictures of it.
Overall, I believe this is a fairly representative sample of the expected outcomes with DMSO with a slight skew to the extreme adverse reactions (due to this author casting a wide net to solicit for them).
